Doula Services
I am available for a no-charge / no obligation meeting with you and your partner to discuss your expectations, requirements and my services. My goal is to help have the best birth experience possible under any circumstance. I'm also available for postpartum support in the absence of family support, for a high needs infant, multiples birth, assistance with siblings, postpartum depression or an extra hand during the transition to becoming a family.
A gift of doula services to a family member or a friend can be much appreciated too - either as a birth support or for when baby arrives home. I'm happy to discuss this option and purchase with the gift giver and make the arrangements for support with the expectant or new parents.
Birth Doula
Once hired as your Birth Doula, I am available to you:
- to meet 2-3 times during your pregnancy to discuss options for the birth
- to help you plan your birth "wish list"
- by phone when you have questions or need any information
- to discuss your support network including your partner, family members, medical caregivers
- 24 hours a day / 7 days a week for the 2 weeks surrounding your estimated due date
- to assist with initiating breastfeeding immediately following birth and your arrival at home
- to accompany you from early labour, through birth and a couple hours postpartum when you're ready for private time.
- for general baby care support
- to visit you at home within a few days to discuss your birth experience
- to provide a personalized "Birth Story" accounting your baby's arrival (on request).
I make every attempt to avoid overlapping due dates and work with other doulas in back-up relationships. We keep each other apprised of client history, progress and wishes in the event a that a need arises we'd be required to provide back-up for each other.
A flat fee includes all of the above services.
Postpartum Doula
Once hired as your postpartum doula I will assist you with:
- the transition of having your newborn (or multiples) join your family
- guidance and support in establishing and maintaining a good breastfeeding experience
- newborn tasks and light duties for your baby
- infant massage techniques.
We can discuss per visit/daily/weekly requirements, rearranging times to meet your needs at home, in hospital or accompanying you to appointments, errands and outings (if you choose).
Prenatal/Childbirth Education, Breastfeeding & Newborn Care Classes
Personalized, private prenatal, breastfeeding and newborn care education can be arranged to fit your particular needs within your schedule and in the comfort of your own home. They can be separate from or in addition to Birth or Postpartum Doula services.
